Chinese New Year Luncheon

MA-NL celebrated Chinese New Year 2010 with its’ members and friends.of Malaysia on Saturday 20th February at the Walong Restaurant, Frederik Hendriklaan 286, 2582 BN, The Hague. About 69 attendees were present, including our Patron, H.E Dato' Dr Fauziah Mohd Taib. The Malaysian owner of the restaurant, Mr Khoo and his wife Joanne, showed off their culinary skills by spreading the buffet table with delicious authentic Chinese food.

The President, Sharina Karim took this luncheon as an opportunity to introduce the newly elected Committee Members and presented the agenda of the year to the members.  

It was definitely an opportunity for all present to get together as Malaysians, and enjoy our comraderie and friendship in the spirit of One Malaysia. The ang pow presented to the children by the President, added the sense of celebration of the year of the tiger. For more photos click to Photo Gallery. 
 

 Indoor Paintball Noordhaghe

Paintball is a team sport where individuals try to eliminate members of the opposing team from the game by marking them with balls of paint, which are fired from a carbon dioxide or nitrogen powered airgun.

The sport Committee of MA-NL under the leadership of Mohd Shah , successfully organized a Paintball session at the Indoor Paintball Noordhaghe, Kerketuinenweg 29, The Hague on Friday 12 February 2010. About 35 people attended including our Patron, H.E Dato Dr. Fauziah Mohd Taib, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Netherlands. It was a sportive, fun and enjoyable evening. The snacks and drinks was catered by our Food and Beverage committee, Azmi and Bazrul. We hope to organize more sportive events in the future,

Annual General Meeting 2010

The 4th. Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Association of the Netherlands (MA-NL) was held successfully on Saturday, 9th January 2010 at 11:00 a.m in MATRADE, Innsbruckweg 226, 3047 AH Rotterdam. About 25 ordinary individual or family members / associate members /ordinary corporate members attended the AGM. Mr. Mohamad Razdan Jamil, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia, The Hague attended the meeting in his capacity as the ex-officio representing the Patron of the Association, Dato' Dr Fauziah Mohd Taib, Ambassador of Malaysia to The Netherlands.

The AGM adjourned at 14:00 p.m followed by a light lunch of mee goreng, kari puff and kuih bingka.The President and the Committee members would like to thank the Embassy of Malaysia, the Hague for their support and MATRADE for the use of the conference hall.

Held in the futuristic flagship of the Spido-fleet m.v Abel Tasman berthing at Piet Smitkade, Harbour no.1085, Rotterdam (opposite the Feyenoord Stadium), proved to be the perfect setting for our annual gala event, which had all the elements of success: glamour, food and music..A huge turnout of more than 250 people with an international allure, exceeded all expectations.

The program started a bit late due to the unforseen wheather condition but I was undeterred to host the gala with the jovial Celebrity Chef Ismail. After the speech by the President of MA-NL , H.E Dato' Dr. Fauziah Mohd Taib officially opened the sumptous buffet catered by MR. T.A Wong of the Malakkka Restaurant and  prepared by Malaysia's very own Celebrity Chef Ismail.

The entertainment of the event was a class apart begining with the Edo Hartstings and Friends band, the table magic show with the popular Sylvia Schuyer and our very own MA-NL dance troupe contributed a truly Malaysian flavor to the event. However Malaysia's sentaional and talented singer Nadia Haswani Hasnan stole the show and dazzled the audience with her rousing performance.

The lucky draw tickets were a sell-out and this year we have a remarkable prizes thanks to our sponsors and the proceeds will be donated to the charity organization for the tsumani victims in Acheh. Congratulations to all lucky draw winners and to  Mr. Jos Lusser of the Libra Shipping who won the main prize, 2 tickets to Malaysia sponsored by Malaysia Airlines.
