MA-NL 5th Annual General Meeting 2011

The 5th. Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Association of the Netherlands was held successfully on Saturday, 8th January 2010 at 11:00 a.m in MATRADE, Rotterdam. The attendance was modest due to bad weather. However there  was enough quorum to proceed with the meeting. The agenda was as follows:

4) The election of Committee Members 2010 was chaired by Puan Murni Abdul Hamid, Counsellor of the Embassy of Malaysia, The Hague.  

The results are as follows:

Vice President: Dave Gurnani

Secretary: Jennifer Donneo

Treasurer: Mohammed Yusof (Joe) Ismail

6 (six) Committee Members were elected :

MA-NL ANNUAL GALA NITE 11 DECEMBER 2010

The MA-NL Annual Gala Nite 2010 was a successful night of glamour and splendor. Held at the plush settings of the La Jardin of the Hilton Hotel Rotterdam, about 250 guests attended the event in style and allure. Guests and members were greeted with pre dinner drinks by the team of friendly and efficient staff of the Hilton Hotel.

This was followed by an exquisite homemade traditional Malaysian buffet of nasi lemak, roti canai, mee rebus Johor, satay ayam ect. prepared by the Chefs of the Hilton Hotel with the advice of our very own Pak Mat and Puan Noriah. The dessert table was laden with a selection of Malaysian delicacies, ais batu cacang, teh tarik and Malaysian fruits flown from Malaysia courtesy of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Nizam Atrawi proved he is a chorographer to be reckoned with when he put together a multi cultural show with the MA-NL Dance Troupe, the Kadazan Dusun Muruk dancers, the Ashakiran Indian dance school of Rotterdam and the Hip Hop KONC3PTS dancers. The guest artiste of the evening, Linda Wagenmakers, the sensational Dutch musical star of Miss Saigon, Mulan, Spamalot and  Rocky over the Mountain gave a rousing performance of "Last Dance” and enthused the guests including H.E Dato Dr. Fauziah Mohd Taib, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Netherlands. To top it all, she ends the show with her interpretation of "No Goodbyes" which represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Festival 2000 and thrilled everyone to hit the dance floor.  It was yet another entertaining and unique event thanks to the untiring efforts of the Committee members of MA-NL and volunteers.

The Lucky Draw and Tambola was conducted by Juraina Razali and Noel Amir. Lucky winners walked away with fantastic prizes thanks to our generous sponsors.The grand prize a return ticket AMS/KUL sponsored by Malaysia Airlines was won by a guest of PETRONAS.
