The Malaysian Association of the Netherlands is a non-governmental, non - political and non-profit organisation with an objectives to bring together Malaysians through educational, social, cultural and economic  activities, and to promote the interests of its members and to foster Malaysia/Netherlands understanding and co-operation.

 History

On 22 December 2001, during the Hari Raya celebration organised by the Embassy of Malaysia and the Ladies’ Association (PERWAKILAN) of The Hague at the Malaysian Trade Centre in Rotterdam, The Ambassador of Malaysia to The Netherlands, H.E Dato Noor Farida Ariffin announced the launching of the Malaysian Association of the Netherlands.

A total of 16 Malaysians residing in The Netherlands were appointed by Mr. Zulkifli Adnan, Counsellor/Head of Chancery of The Embassy of Malaysia, on behalf of the Ambassador of Malaysia to form the Protem Executive Committee of the Malaysian Association. The first meeting, chaired by the Counsellor was held on 16 March 2002 at the Embassy of Malaysia in The Hague. The meeting discussed on organisational matters, in particular the draft constitution, activities for the year, office bearers, membership and office/ secretariat of the Association.

The draft constitution of the Association introduced by the Counsellor comprises 20 articles and was circulated and discussed at the meeting. Some of the decisions agreed upon include – The Ambassador of Malaysia as the Patron of the Association, the Executive Committee comprise of not more than 15 members, the category of membership, annual membership fees and the Acronym of the Association i.e MA-NL. The acronym was proposed by the meeting and voted between 4 for PMN ( Persatuan Malaysia Netherlands) and 7 for MA-NL ( Malaysian Association of The Netherlands ) The Malaysian Trade Commisioner , Mr Zakaria Kamarudin has kindly offered a room at the Malaysia Trade Centre in Rotterdam to be used without costs as the administrative office of the Association.
